BODY POSITIVITY: featuring Shree Lasya
WELCOME TO MY VERY FIRST EVER THREADY OR KNOT BLOG POST!
Blogging has been something I have wanted to do for so so long but never set aside the time to do it. Now that I have a subject that I feel so passionate about I am ready to pour myself into this venture.
HEY SHREE LASYA! Tell us about yourself!!
“I am a compassionate human being, deeply committed to my own internal healing for the benefit of all humankind. I believe when I show up as my best self, everyone benefits. My passions include writing poetry, spiritual truths and lyrics; music; dancing; and authentically relating with the beautiful souls in this world.”
WHY IS BODY POSITIVITY IMPORTANT TO YOU?
“Body positivity is important to me because for the majority of my life I struggled with body dysmorphia, disordered eating and incredibly low self esteem. This affected how I saw myself and how I showed up in every area of my life. I have since worked on a lot of those traumas and am very happy in my body now, though I am still growing and healing more parts every day. To me, body positivity is about reclaiming power that we may have given away consciously or unconsciously. It is truly loving and accepting all parts - especially the parts we have been taught not to love.”
What part of your body is easiest for you to love?
“It's easiest for me to love my smile. It's one of my favorite things about me and everyone I meet! I think smiles are one of the most beautiful things about all humans.”
Who inspires you to be more body positive?
“My inner child inspires me to love my body. The innocent little brown girl who felt and believed she was beautiful before she was told otherwise. I owe it to this small child within me to love everything about me and in turn her. It truly is a beautiful healing journey that takes place within.”
What is body positivity?
“Body positivity to me is compassion, acceptance, gratitude and love for one's body. Compassion for what we have put our body through or the struggles we may still face; acceptance of our body as is; gratitude for the things our body can do for us - it's our vehicle in this life; and love for all parts, the parts we think are beautiful and the parts we try to hide.”
We are so thankful for Shree!
Here are some last words from Shree:
“I am grateful for the opportunity to be part of this experience. My favorite thing to do is shower people with love and remind them of their own brilliance. So please feel free to reach out if you ever need a loving pick me up! <3”
