The Planned Collection is a collaboration between local artist Mycah Higley and Thready or Knot. Mycah was born in Tulsa and currently is an artist here in OKC. Below she explains her work:
“I draw all inspiration from organic lines and forms found in landscapes. I use line, color, and transparency to create atmospheric imagery that allows the viewer a glimpse into a strange world full of color, low gravity, and constant motion. Some of my work is directly inspired by specific places I have been that left an impression. I try and recreate the mood, feeling, physical features, color, emotion, and memory within a work. My process is a means of calm and meditation. My painting is strictly intuitive. There is very little planning outside of the occasional color palette or composition sketch. Many of my finished products look entirely different than their beginnings. While painting, I allow myself to be lost in thought and completely enveloped in creating. I want my work to communicate this meditative state by asking the viewer to get lost in color and thought, too.”
When I teamed up with Mycah I asked her who she would like to donate a portion of the sales to and she decided on Planned Parenthood. Planned Parenthood is a 100 year old trusted health care provider, an informed educator, a passionate advocate, and a global partner helping similar organizations around the world. Planned Parenthood delivers vital reproductive health care, sex education, and information to millions of women, men, and young people worldwide. Planned Parenthood is much more than what you might think they are and they do a lot of good for a lot of people. I encourage you to do your research and and read some of the stories from people that Planned Parenthood has helped.
20% of every purchase goes to Planned Parenthood so that they might help more people in need of healthcare.
